ভূমিকা :- বর্তমান সভ্যতার প্রবণতা প্রকৃতির সহজ নিয়ম পেরিয়ে বহুদূর চলে যাচ্ছে।  প্রকৃতিকে অতিক্রমণ কিছুদূর পর্যন্ত সয় , তারপর ফিরে আসে বিনাশের পালা।  এই বিনাশের পালা শুরু হয়ে গেছে।  কারণ যে গাছ ছিল জন্মলগ্ন থেকে মানুষের বন্ধু , মানুষ আজ নির্বিচারে তার নিধন করে চলেছে।  মানুষের উচিত গাছ কে বাঁচিয়ে রাখা , তা না হলে আমরা বিপন্ন হয়ে পড়ব।

প্রকৃত বন্ধু :- বিপদে আপদে যে তোমার পাশে থাকে তাকে প্রকৃত বন্ধু বলা যায়। বন্ধুত্ব গড়ে ওঠে সুবিধা পাওয়ার জন্য নয়। এই নিরিখে গাছ আমাদের প্রকৃত বন্ধু  --চিরকালের বন্ধু। কারণ : (এক) সৃষ্টির আদি লগ্নে গাছ ছিল আমাদের বেড়ে ওঠার ও জীবন ধারণের গুরুত্বপূর্ণ সঙ্গী।  (দুই) গাছ আমাদের বেঁচে থাকতে সাহায্য করে --অক্সিজেন যোগান দেয় এবং কার্বনডাইঅক্সাইড শোষণ করে।  (তিন ) গাছ যে শুধু আমাদের খাদ্য ও অক্সিজেন যোগান দিয়ে বন্ধুর কাজ করে তাই না , তারা খরা , বন্যা ও ভূমিক্ষয় রোধ করে , আবহাওয়ার সমতা রক্ষা করে এবং পরিবেশের সমতা রক্ষা করে বন্ধুর কাজ করে। (চার) গাছ প্রকৃতির জলচক্র , কার্বন চক্র , অক্সিজেন চক্র , নাইট্রোজেন চক্র প্রভৃতি স্বাভাবিক চক্রগুলিকে সচল রেখে বন্ধুর কাজ করে থাকে। (পাঁচ ) গাছ অরণ্য ভূমি সৃষ্টি করে বলে সেই বনভূমি তে বন্য প্রাণী বাস করে এবং মাটির উপর ঝরা পাতা - লতা ও মৃত প্রাণীর দেহাবশেষ ছড়িয়ে থাকায় মাটির জল ধরণের ক্ষমতা বাড়ে।  তার ফলে বৃষ্টির সমস্ত জল আর নদীগুলিতে নেমে আসে না , বর্ষায় বন্যা হবার আশঙ্কা দূর হয়। (ছয় ) মানুষের দৈনন্দিন জীবনে বিভিন্ন ক্ষেত্রে গাছ বা তার অংশ উপাদান রূপে কাজ করে চলেছে।  গাছের কাঠের অনেক মূল্যবান আসবাব তৈরী হয়।  গাছের পাতা মানুষের রোগ সারায় , মূল্যবান ঔষধ তৈরী হয়। (সাত ) গাছের সৌন্দর্য আমাদের মনকে আনন্দিত করে।
মূল্যের সংক্ষিপ্ত হিসাব :-একটি পঁচিশ টন গাছ তার পঞ্চাশ বছরের জীবনকালে আমাদের দেয় -(সূত্র : তারকমোহন দাস ---'পৃথিবী কি শুধু মানুষের জন্য?)
   ১. অক্সিজেন উৎপাদন করে                                   : ১ লক্ষ ২৫ হাজার টাকা
   ২. প্রোটিন উৎপাদন করে                                       :            ১০ হাজার টাকা
   ৩. ভূমিক্ষয় ও মাটির উর্বরতা রক্ষা করে                 : ১ লক্ষ ২৫ হাজার টাকা
    ৪. তাপ , আদ্রতা , জলচক্রে সাহায্য করে              : ১ লক্ষ ২৫ হাজার টাকা
    ৫. পাখি ও অন্যান্য জীবের আশ্রয়ে                       : ১ লক্ষ ২৫ হাজার টাকা
    ৬. দূষণ নিয়ন্ত্রণে সাহায্য করে                               : ২ লক্ষ ৫০ হাজার টাকা

    যে গাছ আমাদের এত সাহায্য করে আমরা আমাদের প্রয়োজনে তাদের ধ্বংস করছি।
বাসস্থান নির্মাণ , আসবাব নির্মাণের জন্য যথেচ্ছভাবে গাছ আমরা কেটেফেলছি।  সেজন্য অরণ্য ধ্বংস হচ্ছে এবং বন্য প্রাণীরা বিপন্ন হয়ে পড়ছে।  কিন্ত তারফলে আমাদের অস্তিত্ব বিপন্ন হয়ে পড়ছে তা মানুষ বুঝতে পারছে না।  বিভিন্ন ধরণের প্রাকৃতিক বিপর্যয় যেমন - খরা , বন্যা , নানাধরণের দূষণ সৃষ্টি হচ্ছে গাছ কাটার ফলে।
উপসংহার :- এই বিপর্যয় থেকে উত্তীর্ণ হতে হলে চাই মানুষের সজাগ দৃষ্টি ভঙ্গী।  মানুষকে হতে হবে সচেতন।  আইন প্রণয়ন করে গাছ কাটা বন্ধ করতে হবে।  কিন্ত যারা গাছের উপরে নির্ভরশীল তাদের বিকল্প জীবিকার সন্ধান দিতে হবে। শুধু আইন প্রণয়ন করলেই হবে না।  গাছ কাটা বন্ধ হলে আমাদের জীবন হয়ে উঠবে সুন্দর।

Introduction: - The tendency of the present civilization is going far beyond the simple rules of nature. The transcendence of nature sleeps for some distance, then comes the turn of destruction. The turn of this destruction has begun. Because the tree that was man's friend from birth, people are killing him indiscriminately today. People should keep the trees alive, otherwise we will be in danger.

True friend: - The one who is by your side in danger can be called a true friend. Friendships are built to benefit. In this sense, the tree is our true friend - a friend forever. Reason: (a) In the beginning of creation, the tree was an important companion for us to grow and sustain life. (Ii) Trees help us survive - supply oxygen and absorb carbon dioxide. (Iii) Trees not only act as friends by providing us with food and oxygen, but they also act as friends to prevent droughts, floods and land erosion, maintain the balance of the climate and maintain the balance of the environment. (Four) Trees act as friends by keeping the natural cycles of nature like the water cycle, carbon cycle, oxygen cycle, nitrogen cycle, etc. in motion. (Five) As trees create forest land, wild animals live in that forest and the water capacity of the soil increases as the leaves of the fallen plants and dead animals are scattered on the ground. As a result, all the rainwater does not fall into the rivers anymore, the risk of flooding in the rainy season is eliminated.     The trees that help us so much we are destroying them in our need.

We are arbitrarily cutting down trees to build houses and furniture. That is why forests are being destroyed and wild animals are endangered. But people do not understand that our existence is endangered as a result. Various natural disasters such as droughts, floods, various types of pollution are caused by deforestation.

Conclusion: - In order to overcome this catastrophe, we need a vigilant attitude of the people. People need to be aware of. We have to stop cutting down trees by enacting laws. But those who depend on trees have to look for alternative livelihoods. It is not necessary to just make laws. When the trees are cut down, our life will become beautiful.
