APJ Abdul Kalam was an Indian scientist. He was a politician also. He was the President of India from 2002 to 2007. 

APJ Abdul Kalam was born into a Muslim family. Kalam was a bright student. Avul Pakir Jainulabdeen Abdul Kalam earned a degree in Aeronautical Engineering from Madras Institute of Technology. 

In 1958 he joined the Defence Research and Development Organisation.

Immediately he moved to the Indian Space Research Organisation. 

Kalam is the key figure in the May 1998 Pokhran-II tests, in which five nuclear devices were detonated in the Rajasthan desert. Although the tests resulted in condemnation and economic sanctions from the world powers, Kalam was hailed as a national hero for his staunch defence of the country’s security.

He remained unmarried. Kalam was born to Jainulabiddin Marakayar and Ashiamma Jainulabiddin. He had three brothers, named Kasim Mohammed, Mohammed Muthu Meera Lebbai Maraikayar, Mustafa Kalam and one sister who was eldest, Asim Zohra.

Kalam, called the ‘Missile Man’ of India. He wrote several books, including an autobiography, "Wings of Fire" in 1999. 

Among his numerous awards were two of the country’s highest honours, the Padma Vibhusan(1990) and the Bharat Ratna(1997).

APJ Abdul Kalam death by a massive heart attack on 27th July in the year of 2015 at the age of 83 years.
